SECRETARY-GENERAL MOURNS DEATHS OF SENIOR GUATEMALAN OFFICIALS New York, Jun 30 2008 2:00PM Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today voiced sadness over the deaths of two senior Guatemalan officials.

Interior Minister Vinicio Gómez and Vice-Minister Edgar Hernández were killed in a helicopter crash last week.

In a <"http://www.un.org/apps/sg/sgstats.asp?nid=3263">statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Ban offered his condolences to the Central American nation's Government, people and the victims' families, "both personally and for the important work they were doing at the head of the Ministry."
